The Delve Underground Auckland office is looking for an Associate Geotechnical Engineer with a minimum of 12 years of experience. The successful candidate will provide design and consulting on projects within New Zealand and Australia. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a dynamic office experiencing rapid growth in a healthy market focused on infrastructure development, specifically in the underground sector for the foreseeable future.


Responsibilities:

  • Manage and lead teams for geotechnical projects.
  • Manage and coordinate geotechnical exploration programs.
  • Evaluate and characterise soil and rock ground conditions for engineering design. 
  • Perform geotechnical engineering analyses and calculations for tunnels, shafts, foundations, retaining structures, landslide and slope stability, ground improvement, and seismic evaluations.
  • Prepare technical reports and other documents.
  • Development of construction drawings and specifications for underground infrastructure.
  • Participate in business development activities, interviews, and presentations.
  • Prepare technical reports and documents.
  • Provide technical leadership to junior staff.

Qualifications:

  • BS in Civil Engineering with focus on Geotechnical Engineering.
  • Ability to manage a number of concurrent assignments and priorities and supervise junior staff.
  • Good experience in numerical analysis and familiarity with geotechnical analysis software including, Plaxis, FLAC, UDEC and Rocscience suite, or similar programs.
  • Strong communication (both oral and written), analytical and leadership skills.
  • Chartered Professional Engineer in New Zealand, or able to obtain within 1 year from the date of hire.
  • Willingness to travel for short-term assignments to support projects within Australia and New Zealand.
