Duties & Responsibilities

Construction management responsibilities include delivering every project (civil, mechanical, piping and electrical scope) safely and on time within budget and scope. Construction managers should have a background in construction management and resource coordination; and preferably a reasonable work experience on construction activities/requirements.

Construction managers should have good personnel skills and be able to extract the best out of the people and projects that they oversee. They should be adept at planning activities and working with project teams.
Responsibilities

  • Take the full responsibility for the Employer’s staff and contractors working on the specific site on the specific project;
  • Ensure that all relevant safety and quality policies are adhered to during the execution of duties;
  • Plan and liaise with other construction professionals such as architects, engineers, buyers, estimators and surveyors before construction work starts
  • Develop the programme of work and strategy for successful execution of the project
  • Plan ahead to prevent problems on site before they occur, for example, planning the delivery and storage of equipment and materials
  • Perform safety inspections of the site when work is underway and ensure regulations relating to health, safety and the environment (HSE) are adhered to
  • Requisition supplies and materials to complete the projects
  • Prepare and submit budget estimates and progress and cost tracking reports;
  • Develop and implement quality control programs;
  • Take action to deal with the results of delays, bad weather, or emergencies at construction site;
  • Enter discussion with supervisory personnel, owners, contractors, and design professionals to discuss and resolve matters such as work procedures, complaints, and construction problems;
  • Plan, organize, and direct activities concerned with the construction and maintenance of structures, facilities, and systems;
  • Investigate damage, accidents, or delays at construction sites, to ensure that proper procedures are being carried out.

Desired Experience & Qualification

  • Appropriate educational background, preferably in the fields of construction
  • Proven working experience as a construction manager in the engineering and construction sector
  • Solid technical background, with understanding or hands-on experience in engineering and construction projects
  • Excellent client interfacing and internal communication skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Solid organizational skills including attention to detail and multi-tasking skills
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office
